Dragon's Nose is a rock formation in the bay of Plakias on the south coast of Crete, called the sleeping dragon because underwater it seems to stick out its tongue. The bay is naturally sheltered from west wind, which is rare on this coast. The maximum depth is 20 m.
The bay is shallower, and you can follow the tongue to slightly deeper water. A crack along the way is good for groups of cardinalfish and squirrelfish. At the deepest point you can keep the wall on your right and, time allowing, visit the narrow pink cave, the dragon's nostril. It is overgrown with pink algae, and a curtain of light shines in from an opening at the surface.
