Fan Canyon

Fan Canyon is a reef dive site located off the northwest coast of Pulau Tioman, Malaysia, near Kampung Salang, which serves as the primary diving hub for the island. The site is known for its dramatic canyon topography, characterised by coral canyon formations that channel passing currents and make it a favourite among underwater photographers.

The reef runs from 15 m to 30 m depth, with the canyon structure and coral formations creating a visually striking underwater landscape dominated by colourful sea fan corals. Currents moving through the canyon funnel nutrients and attract notable marine life, including schools of fish and reef sharks.

Fan Canyon is accessed by boat from Kampung Salang, which sits in close proximity to the site. Current through the canyon is a defining feature of the dive, and combined with the depth range, the site is suited to intermediate to advanced divers.
