About this site
Gavilanes is a rocky reef on the Corridor near Cabo San Lucas, sitting between Chileno and Santa Maria bays. Depths run from 12 to 18 metres (40 - 60 ft) over ridges and canyons, and the coral here is described as some of the healthiest in the area.
Conditions are calm and shallow, sheltered from south swells, with great visibility and water between 21 and 29 °C through the year. Lobsters, angelfish and groupers are the animals to look for, and white tip reef sharks show up as well. Moray eels, octopus, turtles and rays have also been reported.
