HMAS Swan is a destroyer wreck 3 nautical miles off the Cape Naturaliste coast in Western Australia, near Dunsborough. She was commissioned in 1973 and served in the Royal Australian Navy until she was decommissioned and deliberately scuttled in 1997. She is 120 metres long and 12 metres wide.
The wreck lies on sand. The crow's nest sits at around 8 metres, which suits freedive training, the top deck is in 17 metres, and under the stern at 32 metres a wobbegong sleeps among an aquarium of fish. The maximum depth is 32 metres and the shallowest point 5 metres. It is big enough to be dived twice, with lots of nooks and crannies, and it suits divers from Open Water up to technical.
Curious batfish greet you on the way down. Hard and soft corals, sea fans and sponges cover the wreck, with hundreds of fish species. Humpback whales pass in the season from September to November.
