About this site
House Reef is a dive site on the reef in front of Alona Beach. It is a place to start with check-up dives and courses, and open water students make their first training dives here. Depths run from 5 to 12 metres at night, and visibility is 10 to 30 metres.
Experienced divers will find it excellent for a night dive. Massive sponge crabs and other crustaceans roam the reef in the dark. Starting at twilight gives a chance to watch the shy mandarinfish courting, followed by slugs, eels, squid and octopus, and with some luck a blue ringed octopus.
