Kata Beach House Reef is a shallow coastal reef lying directly off Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand, accessible throughout the dry season from November to April. The reef reaches a maximum depth of around 10–12 m, making bottom times generous and conditions well suited to beginners and those completing courses such as Open Water or Try Scuba programmes, as well as certified divers looking for a relaxed dive.
Marine life on the reef is varied and present in good numbers. Schools of glass fish and juvenile fish are common, drawing in predators including barracuda and young tuna, while snapper and fusiliers move through in schools. Triggerfish, surgeonfish, and parrotfish are regularly seen patrolling the reef, alongside a healthy population of scorpionfish and lionfish. Between December and April, ornate ghost pipefish visit the reef during their annual breeding cycles.
Conditions at Kata Beach House Reef are generally protected, with light currents and good visibility, though currents can change, and care should be taken around longtail boat traffic and swimmers sharing the water.
