Kim Quy (also written Kim Quy Islet) is a dive site in the southern diving zone off Phú Quốc, Vietnam, situated at least an hour by boat from An Thoi Harbour — making it one of the more remote sites in the area. It is accessible during the rainy season months of June through September, when prevailing winds shift from west to east and open up the eastern and southern sites for exploration.
The reef reaches a maximum depth of 45 metres, with some areas dropping even deeper, placing it firmly in the range preferred by certified and experienced divers. The southern sites as a group average around 15 metres, but Kim Quy's greater depths mean it is considered a technical dive. Strong currents are a defining characteristic of the site and should be expected; conditions allow for drift diving for those with the experience to handle it.
The deeper water at Kim Quy supports notable soft coral growth, and the currents animate the corals alongside passing fish. Divers willing to work with the current rather than against it are rewarded by this movement. Less experienced divers are better directed to shallower, calmer alternatives in the northern zone, as this site demands solid current-diving ability.
Access is by boat only, with the journey from An Thoi taking at least one hour. The site is dived during the June-to-September rainy season window when southern exposure becomes favourable, and diving conditions on a given day can still be very good even within that season.
