About this site
La Carrera is a dive site located on the eastern side of Isla de Lobos, off Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. It sits among a group of points on the east of the island that are sought out in winter when conditions allow divers to take shelter from open-sea swell. The site drops along a wall to a maximum depth of 45 metres, placing it in technical territory.
The eastern Lobos sites, including La Carrera, offer distinctly different underwater terrain from the better-known western passages, with wall diving as the defining feature. Water temperatures range from 18 to 24 °C, and winter is the primary season for visiting this side of the island.
The site is known for pelagic encounters, with tuna, skipjacks, sunfish, and amberjack among the species recorded here. Given the depth, the wall profile, and its classification as a technical dive, La Carrera is suited to experienced and technically qualified divers rather than beginners.
