About this site

Loe Rao Point sits off Bau Island, a small island near Morotai in the Maluku archipelago of eastern Indonesia, along a coastline near the edge of the Halmahera Sea and typically reached by boat from settlements on Morotai or Bau Island itself. The reef bottom here reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres, with light current and a rating of beginner. Barracuda, manta rays, snapper, and wobbegong sharks are regularly encountered along the reef, and divers have also reported eagle rays, nudibranchs, surgeonfish, and sweetlips here. Currents can pick up around full or new moon and during high tide, so timing the dive with the tide is worth checking before entry.
