Manta Ridge, located at Arborek in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, is a deeper, high-energy cleaning station reef where resident reef manta rays (Manta alfredi) gather to be cleaned by wrasses. It is one of two principal manta cleaning stations in the region and is regarded as a more dramatic alternative to the shallower Manta Sandy site in Dampier Strait.
The site reaches a maximum depth of 18 m and is built around a ridge formation. Mantas are present year-round but concentrate most reliably between November and April, with the broader active season running October through April or May.
Beyond mantas, the ridge attracts blue-spotted trevally, triggerfish, fusiliers, barracuda, butterflyfish, and hammerhead sharks, along with mandarin fish and nocturnal creatures during night dives. Wrasses work the cleaning station alongside the mantas.
Manta Ridge is an advanced dive site. Strong currents run frequently, particularly during full or new moon phases and when tides are high, and reef hooks are required equipment; guides will assist divers unfamiliar with their use. Inexperienced buoyancy control in these conditions risks coral damage, so the site is matched to divers whose experience level suits the conditions on the day. Visibility is generally good. Entry is by boat.
