Okikawa Maru is a large Japanese tanker wreck off Busuanga Island near Coron, about 2 miles south of Conception. It is the largest of the Coron wrecks, covered in beautiful corals with plenty of marine life. The bottom is at 26 m and the deck lies at 10 to 16 m, where a dive of an hour is possible.
The deck is good for newer wreck divers, while advanced wreck divers have many penetration options, including entering from the outside up the propeller shaft all the way into the engine room.
Strong tidal currents often sweep the wreck, but diving in current shows the most fish. At the bow a school of snappers and huge batfish hold position into the current, large fish shelter behind crumpled metal and inside the deckhouses, and a large grouper lives near the bottom. Diving outside the deck without current suits Open Water divers, and diving in current calls for Advanced Open Water or experienced Advanced divers.
