About this site
Paaw Reef is a reef dive in Yap, Micronesia, with depths of 9 to 25 m. Visibility is 18 to 30 m or more and current is 0 to 3 km/h.
The terrain differs along the reef. The north section is a gentle coral slope that ends at an abrupt drop-off starting at about 22 m. The south portion has a large shelf of flat sandy bottom at about 20 m.
Corals on the slope include a wide variety of hard corals with occasional soft corals between them. The mushroom-like porites bommies are the most outstanding coral feature of the sandy shelf.

Reef fish are abundant along the coral slopes. Stingrays are frequently seen on the sandy bottoms, and sharks and turtles are frequent cruisers along this section of the reef.
