About this site
Porer Reef is an offshore reef about 4 nautical miles from Rovinj in Croatia, a 25-minute boat ride. A plateau that you can barely make out from the surface starts at about 12 m (39 ft) and extends down to around 40 m (131 ft).
Rock formations make grottoes and crevices that shelter spiny lobsters, lobsters and forkbeards, and shrimp and conger eels look out from some of the holes. Old anchors lie on the reef and give corals and shellfish new ground to grow on. A surface marker buoy is required and a torch is recommended.
The site suits Open Water and Advanced divers. A catshark and a lobster were freed from an old ghost net here in 2022.
