Pufana Reef is a coral garden inside the lagoon of Fakarava atoll, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The coral reef is shallow, and marine life can be watched from just below the surface, with thousands of colourful fish sheltering among the coral.
Schools of butterflyfish, parrotfish, snappers, groupers, moray eels, trumpetfish and angelfish live here, and blacktip sharks and whitetip sharks swim among them.
