Ras Nasrani, Arabic for Christian Cape, is a headland dive site about 12 km north of Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, along the Straits of Tiran. It is an easy dive for all levels, and one of the most beautiful at Sharm el Sheikh. The shallow reef is made up of a series of sheltered bays, with a coral garden from 5 to 14 metres of soft coral, gorgonian fans and porites coral formations. A red anemone sits in the coral garden at about 18 metres.
The wall drops to about 50 to 60 metres, with small pinnacles and crevices. Large gorgonian fans sit at 20 metres, followed by mushroom-shaped coral heads that continue beyond the headland.
The current runs towards the corner and ranges from weak to moderate, picking up as you approach the headland. Giant moray eels and pufferfish live among the pinnacles, nudibranchs and octopus are common, and pelagics cruise by in the blue.
