Shark Fin is a sloping coral reef dive site located at Atauro Island, Timor-Leste, running from a shallow snorkelling-depth of 5 m down to a maximum of 50 m. The reef face is covered in both hard and soft corals across its gradient.
The site is known for strong current, which makes it a fast drift dive and also drives the pelagic action. Regular visitors include barracuda, tuna, and sharks, and on lucky days hammerhead sharks and large tuna are encountered. A wide-angle lens is recommended for the conditions here.
Strong current and the depth range to 50 m place this firmly in experienced-diver territory; a minimum of Advanced Open Water certification is required. The shallower sections are suitable for snorkelling when conditions allow.
