Siaes Tunnel is a deep cave dive in Palau, set in the middle of the vertical wall on the outer reef. You follow the wall down, and once you pass about 30 m (98 ft) a large dark opening appears in the side of the cliff.
The tunnel runs for roughly 50 m (164 ft) and is wide and tall enough for several divers to swim side by side, with a domed roof. The sand floor sits at about 50 m (164 ft) at the entrance and drops deeper further in, so the site is only reachable on a deep dive, and nitrogen narcosis is a real concern. The tunnel has two exits, and large gorgonian sea fans grow at the exit.
Visibility is 15 to 30 m (50 to 100 ft) or better and there is no current. Sunlight enters through the mouth and makes shafts of light in the entrance. The classic view is looking back out from inside, where divers swimming out are framed as silhouettes against the blue. The site suits advanced divers with Advanced Open Water training and Nitrox.
