About this site
The Spit is a dive site located approximately 16 km (about 45 minutes by charter boat) off the coast of Exmouth, Western Australia, reached via private charter or full-day dive safari. The site features rocky terrain with swim-throughs and rocky edges that drop to a maximum depth of 18 m.
The Spit's rock bottom and plunging profile provide habitat for manta rays, sleeping turtles, and Grey Nurse sharks, making it a compelling site for wildlife encounters along its walls and swim-throughs.
Access is by boat only, with no shore entry option, and the site is rated at an intermediate level of difficulty. Given the offshore location and the nature of the terrain and marine life present, divers should have appropriate experience before visiting.
