The Valiant is a wreck that rests in sand under a mooring buoy in Descanso Bay, at 75 to 100 feet (23 to 30 m). She was built in 1926 as a luxury yacht and sank in December 1930 after a fire that burned for three days. She has been salvaged many times over the years.
She sits upright with some kelp growing from her and is covered in invertebrates. Sheepshead, kelp bass and some rockfish live around her, and a giant black sea bass or bat ray is spotted now and then. Permission must be given by the Harbormaster before diving her.
