Western Shoals lies off the coast of Guam in the Mariana Archipelago, a shallow reef area within Apra Harbor on the island's western side. This part of the harbor is sheltered by the surrounding reef and breakwater, making it a commonly used entry point for boat dives in the area. The reef here is built on plate and pillar coral, and divers have reported dusky surgeonfish, lined bristletooth, Pacific bullethead parrotfish, Pacific orange-spine unicornfish, and yellowbar parrotfish moving over it, along with princess, staghorn, and Tracey's damselfish holding around the coral heads.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
