White Rock is a coral reef dive site off Koh Tao, in the Gulf of Thailand, built around a series of granite boulders that support an expansive coral garden stretching between two distinct rock formations. The site runs from roughly 5 m to 21 m depth, with the terrain mixing sandy patches, coral bommies, and healthy reef across an area large enough to explore thoroughly on a single dive without retracing the same ground.
Marine life at White Rock is varied and reliable. Resident hawksbill turtles are regularly encountered, and sea turtles are a common sighting more broadly. Blue-spotted stingrays and multiple species of barracuda are frequently seen, along with moray eels, pufferfish, butterflyfish, bannerfish, and grouper. Night dives are especially popular here: after dark, feather stars, hermit crabs, octopus, cuttlefish, and crabs emerge to feed, making the site notably different from its daytime character.
Conditions at White Rock are generally calm and protected, with water temperatures between 27 °C and 31 °C and good visibility. Current is typically light. The site is accessible year-round, with the main season running March through October. Divers should watch for sea urchins and sharp corals.
White Rock suits all certification levels, including complete beginners, and is a standard choice for Open Water training dives. Its gentle depths and calm conditions make it equally good for a relaxed fun dive, while the night-dive potential gives more experienced divers an additional reason to return.
