About this site

Acuario (El Acuario), also known as the Leeward Reef, is a shallow reef dive at Cayo Largo, Cuba. The site gradually slopes from a seaweed meadow down to a maximum depth of 14 metres, passing through a system of ridges and grooves before opening onto a broad sandy area dotted with coral patches.

The reef's terrain supports a diverse mix of corals and fish throughout its profile. The sandy areas between coral patches are productive hunting ground, with frogfish, squid, and seahorses encountered in those zones, while the wider site hosts stingrays, bull rays, turtles, and cat sharks.

Water temperature ranges from 24–29°C. The site is rated for beginner divers, making it accessible to those with an entry-level certification.
