Basil Jones Canyons is a spur-and-groove reef outside the last pass before the barrier reef meets the north end of Ambergris Caye. It lies about 45 minutes north of San Pedro, beyond the normal range of dive sites, and can only be reached by boat.
Depths run from about 4.6 to 21 metres (15 to 70 feet). Calm seas are needed to get there, and the trip is best planned as an early start and a full day out.
