Black Rock is a shore dive on the northern side of Wreck Bay in Aqaba, next to the former Tourist Camp. Entry is at a gravel and shingle point. Swim out, pick up the reef on the right and follow it down to the planned depth, usually around 25 m. The coral garden starts just below the surface and runs for about 30 m before dropping steeply, with a total depth range of 5 to 40 m.
Heading north there are immense coral slopes and valleys with large black coral bushes. On the way back, the reef rises to cabbage coral at about 14 m and you return between 9 and 12 m past pinnacles and plates put down for coral growth research. Current can reach up to 1 knot.
Emperors, snappers, crocodilefish, lyretail, small triggerfish, wrasse, parrotfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, boxfish and many butterflyfish live here, and turtles visit regularly. Ornate ghost pipefish are found here, and seahorses sometimes appear near the seagrass area. The site suits beginners.
