Congdon is a shipwreck dive site located within Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior. The wreck is dived in two distinct sections: the bow, which sits at depths of 70 to 110 feet (21 to 34 m), and the stern, which ranges from 20 to 200 feet (6 to 61 m), giving divers the option to explore both shallow and very deep portions of the wreck.
Visibility at Isle Royale is seldom less than 25 feet (8 m) and often exceeds 50 feet (15 m); colder water tends to run clearer. Water temperature in Lake Superior reaches around 4°C, so appropriate thermal protection is essential.
All dives are conducted with buddy teams. The site falls under National Park Service jurisdiction: no souvenirs or artifacts may be taken or disturbed, each diver must provide their name, address, and certification type, and registration at Windigo is required before diving.
