Crystal Palace is a reef dive on the south-west side of Rottnest Island, Western Australia, known for its endless caves and swim-throughs, which make every dive different. Maximum depth is about 12 m.
The headline is the Buffalo bream. Thousands of these dinner-plate-shaped silver fish, 50 to 60 cm long, school in a tight spiral around you and part as you swim toward them, then close again. Snapper, dhufish, WA rock lobster, wobbegong sharks and Port Jackson sharks are also found in the area, and on a night dive turtles are very likely.
Conditions here are generally calm, and visibility is rated great, but the current can be strong. The best season runs from July to October.
