Fakarava South Pass lies at the far southern end of Fakarava island in French Polynesia, within a UNESCO biosphere reserve. It is known for its pelagic diving, which is the main reason divers come to this end of the island.
The current in the pass is strong and visibility is great. Grey reef sharks are present along with other pelagic fish, and humpback whales are seen from July to October.
