Lartington is a wreck on the reef at Western Blue Cut, Bermuda, the remains of a hybrid sail and steam ship that left Savannah in 1879 loaded with cotton. Four days into the voyage a huge wave, which sailors swore towered over 100 feet (30 metres), slammed into her hull and opened a fatal wound.
She turned for Bermuda and struck the reef at Western Blue Cut, settling into the shallows with her crew rescued and most of her cargo saved. Today her bow still rises toward the surface, and her boilers and broken propeller remain at the site.
