Oakland sits off Hawks Nest at the mouth of Port Stephens, New South Wales, where the Myall River meets the Tasman Sea north of Newcastle. The site is typically reached by boat out of Port Stephens, running over the rocky reefs and headlands along this stretch of coastline. Divers have reported bigeye snapper, bull sharks, great white sharks, southern bluefin tuna, and spotted wobbegongs here, though these sightings come from limited reporting rather than consistent confirmation.
