Porth Dafarch is a sandy bay on the west coast of Anglesey, Wales (53.287429, -4.651296), and is a popular shore-entry site particularly suited to introducing new divers to open-water diving. Entry and exit are straightforward, especially at high tide, and kit can be prepared on stone benches at the bottom of the road. A slipway is present but is noted as suitable for kayaks rather than RIBs. Parking runs all along the wall, though the site is busy with families and kayakers in summer, and spaces fill quickly at weekends and in high season — arriving early is advised.
The bottom is sandy throughout the entry area, with the sand forming ripples at right angles to the beach; this makes the site a practical choice for practising navigation and pilotage skills. Kelp and fish are found further out from the beach. The site is rated beginner level.
