Secca del Ferraio is an offshore reef rising to 30 metres depth, reached by descending into open water until the structure emerges below. The site is characterised by cracks and fissures running through the reef, creating shelter and habitat within the rocky formation.
Within the splits and gaps of the reef, lobsters take up residence alongside numerous Mediterranean alcyonarians, making the crevices the main focus of the dive. The season runs from May through October.
The dive involves a blue-water descent to meet the reef at depth, requiring comfort with open-water drop-ins and confident buoyancy control at 30 metres.
