Second Reef is the outer reef on a swim out from shore in south Florida, found by swimming east past a small artifact site with replica cannons and the potholes, where juvenile fish gather. The reef sits in about 12 to 15 ft (3.7 to 4.6 m) of water, and some of its hard corals stand 3 to 4 ft (about 1 m) tall.
It is a long swim of about half an hour, so most beginners stay on the first reef for comfort.
