Shark Rock is a covering rock at the entrance to Malinbeg harbour, offering dives through two rocky gullies. Enter the water just north of the rock and drop into a large bowl, which is sheltered and always full of fish. Swim south-west into the corner, which looks dark but opens out into an overhanging swim-through at 20 m. Pass through and swim east, rising to 14 m, then follow the rock round into a 2 m wide gully heading north. You can finish by swimming north into Small Bay.
Lobster and crayfish are always in the holes of the rock walls, to be looked at and not touched. Wrasse, pollack, conger eel, shrimp, starfish, urchins, scallops and mackerel are also recorded. Visibility is good, the site is sheltered, and the depth you can reach depends on the state of the tide.
