Trix Caves lies in North Male Atoll, part of Kaafu Atoll in the central Maldives, an area of coral reef channels and thilas widely used by dive operators based out of Male and nearby resort islands. The site's name points to the swim-throughs and overhangs that shape the outer reef edge here, a cave and cavern style formation typical of this stretch of the Maldivian archipelago. Divers have also reported Indian Dascyllus sheltering among the reef structure here.
