About this site

Turtle Playground is a reef dive site at Mataking Island, located in the Semporna area of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, and is considered one of the most intriguing sites the island has to offer. The reef is characterised by lush soft corals and is situated near the stunning island of Mataking itself.

The site is best known for its high densities of green sea turtles, and divers consistently report frequent, close encounters with them. Beyond turtles, the broader Mataking area is noted for sea turtles, macro critters, and larger pelagics, reflecting the rich marine life found across these reefs.

Turtle Playground is one of several named sites around Mataking Island and is typically accessed by boat as part of the island's dive programme, alongside other sites such as Coral Garden, Garden of Eden, and Magic Rock.
