Dirty Rock is one of the more popular dive sites at Cocos Island, and it is rated advanced. It is the more challenging of the island's best known dives, with boulders and pinnacles to manoeuvre around, and hammerhead sharks swim among them.
Marble rays are plentiful here, and a whale shark is occasionally seen. The boulders and pinnacles rise from deep water, so depth needs watching.
Currents are strong and swells can be large, which adds to the challenge of the dive.
