Air Slope is a patch reef east of Gili Air in Indonesia, a 15-minute boat ride from the dive centre. Large and small coral outcroppings sit along a sandy slope, with depths of 5 m to 24 m. It is suitable from beginner to advanced.
The site lies in the shadow of Gili Air and is almost always sheltered from strong currents and waves. A gentle current makes it a leisurely drift dive, and it works well for Open Water course dives and introductory dives. Good coral appears at around 12 m.
Blue spotted stingrays rest on the sandy areas in the deeper part. Magnificent anemones, sea turtles, nudibranchs and gorgonian sea fans gather around the bommies. Juvenile fish are worth hunting for, including sweetlips, boxfish, rock mover wrasse and angelfish, and hawksbill turtles often feed on algae on top of the reef in the shallows.
