Black Rock is a wall dive on the east coast of Timor-Leste, with a drop that continues past 100 metres. Divers enter from the beach at high tide, and the dive covers depths from 5 to more than 50 metres.
Large sea fans and sponges cover the wall, with plenty of colourful reef fish around them, and the dark blue water below gives a sense of flying. A strong current can run in the shallow section, so the dive is best made at slack tide, and Advanced Open Water is the required level. A wide-angle lens suits the scenery.
On good days divers have seen bumphead parrotfish, Spanish dancers, thresher sharks and whitetip reef sharks.
