About this site

The Cathedral is a shark-feeding dive site in Beqa Lagoon, Fiji, inside a barrier reef system that holds more than 100 dive sites. It is a sandy site with a maximum depth of about 19.8 m, light current and great visibility, and it is rated beginner.

Format. Hand-fed shark dives run here three times a week. Divers kneel on the sand behind a low wall while the feeders work the sharks with poles. The dive is controlled and structured, though the animals are large and wild.

Sharks. Up to eight species can appear in a single encounter: tiger, bull, lemon, grey reef, whitetip, blacktip, silvertip and nurse sharks. Most groups see three to six tiger sharks over a two-tank trip, and a tiger shark of about four metres can pass within arm's length of the wall.
