About this site
Dirt Track is a reef on the east coast of Timor-Leste, regarded as one of the most beautiful along that shore. It can be reached easily from the beach at any time, and snorkelling is possible as well as diving.
The depth runs from 5 to 40 metres. The eastern end has interesting topography, with large cracks and crevices to explore, and the corals carry a great diversity of reef fish.
Some strong current runs here, so the dive is best planned for slack tide. Pelagic fish sometimes cruise past in the blue, and on a lucky day manta rays and grey reef sharks appear. A wide angle lens suits the site.
