German Flag is a slope dive in the south of Komodo National Park, near Nusa Kode, and is listed among the south's must-dive sites with Cannibal Rock, Yellow Wall and Manta Alley. It is exposed, and in the southern waters the water runs cooler at 22 to 26°C with visibility of 10 to 20 metres and a greenish tint.
From September to January the surge eases and manta rays gather in large groups. Current is strong, and it is an advanced dive.
Dive centres and day boats do not work this area. Most divers arrive by liveaboard or a longer speedboat trip from Labuan Bajo. In the dry season boats usually stay north and centre, and from June to August southern swells can make exposed spots rough.
