Kuda Kandu, known locally as Lhos Kuda Kandu, is a narrow channel entrance reef in Vaavu Atoll in the Maldives. The site reaches a maximum depth of 30 m, with the reef beginning at around 3 m and a notable band of hard corals developing between 25 and 30 m. The area inside the channel is sheltered from stronger currents, making it a calm and well-suited location for underwater photography.
The protected interior conditions allow divers to look closely for small and shy species, including Leaf Fish, Torpedo Rays, Mantis Shrimps, and Lobsters. In summer, there is a good chance of encountering Manta Rays and Whale Sharks at this site.
The dive is conducted as a boat dive at the channel entrance. The sheltered current conditions inside the channel make it accessible for divers who want stable conditions rather than a drift, and the combination of shallow reef and deeper hard coral structures suits both photographers and those exploring the reef profile down to 30 m.
