Lighthouse Bommie is a small pinnacle near the bottom of Ribbon Reef No 10 on the northern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland. It rises from 24 m to 5 m, and a larger, deeper mound beside it rises to 15 m.
It is known as a creature dive rather than a coral dive, though the top has some colourful growth. Green and hawksbill turtles use the pinnacle and mound as a cleaning station, and more of them come to sleep here at night. At least three olive sea snakes live on the site, and big eye trevally, chevron barracuda and yellow lined snapper circle the pinnacle along with grey reef sharks and several large Malabar grouper.
Look closer for mantis shrimp, octopus, flame file shell, pipefish, scorpionfish, longnose hawkfish, anemonefish and nudibranchs. In summer manta rays use the mound as a cleaning station and glassfish swarm the main pinnacle, drawing schools of mackerel and trevally. In winter eagle rays are sometimes seen south of the mound.
