Masaplod is one of the oldest marine sanctuaries in the Dauin area of Negros Oriental, the Philippines, situated about ten minutes by boat from shore. The site sits on a sandy slope that descends to around 21 metres, with large coral formations spread across both the shallow and deeper sections of the reef.
The sanctuary is recognised for its rich marine biodiversity, with big coral formations sheltering schools of small jacks, trevallies, sweetlips, and snappers throughout the site. Stingrays, triggerfish, groupers, nudibranchs, big turtles, and flamboyant cuttlefish have all been recorded here, along with soft corals across the slope.
Access is by boat, with the site reached in roughly ten minutes. The maximum depth of around 21 metres and the generally calm, easy conditions make Masaplod suitable for beginner divers.
