About this site

Maya Bay is the famous bay on Phi Phi Lay in Thailand, where the film The Beach was shot. It is crowded at the surface but offers decent diving, including one of the largest caverns in the area.

The north side of the bay has a sloping reef with dramatic rock formations and a good chance of finding a turtle. The best area is often called Maya Corner, on the northwest point at about 16 to 18 metres, with a swim-through and a steep wall. The cavern is on the southwest point. Do not enter caves without special training and equipment.

Phi Phi is reachable all year, weather permitting, and the best months are November to April. Currents can be strong at times.
