North Channel is a channel dive in the northern part of Rasdhoo Atoll in the Maldives. It is the only channel in that part of the atoll, with five finger-shaped reef ridges pointing towards the outer reef. The trip out takes about 30 minutes.
The tops of the five fingers, which are thilas (pinnacles), lie 8 m below the surface. Between the fingers the bottom is sand at about 20 to 22 m. The dive covers depths of roughly 15 to 40 m.
Each finger holds many fish, and in the channel there is a high chance of big pelagic species. Eagle rays, sharks, turtles and dogtooth tuna are sometimes seen, especially when the current runs into the atoll. Manta rays come here often during manta season, from November to April, particularly when plankton is present.
Current can be medium to strong. The site suits divers from beginner to experienced, though the current sets the difficulty.
