About this site
Spectacle Reef lies on the southern side of Mahurangi Island, outside the reserve. The dive starts in shallow water and heads south, following the reef out and then back again.
Depths reach 18 to 20 metres and the water is clear. Jasons nudibranch, colourful sponges and a huge variety of fish make it a top spot for photography, and the reef is best taken as a gentle out-and-back swim.
