About this site
Sunil Gala is a rocky dive site off Hikkaduwa on the south-west coast of Sri Lanka. It lies south of the coral gardens and closer to the shore than Goda Gala. The depth ranges from 4 to 18 m.
The dive starts at a large rock near the surface and follows it down to a rocky bottom. It is a multi-level complex of rocky boulders and overhanging pinnacles with long crevices.
Relentless surge makes it hard to hold steady, and a good handhold is needed. Take care not to damage coral while controlling your movements in the surge.

Angelfish, surgeonfish, triggerfish and boxfish are swept back and forth through the crevices. Groupers and morays live on the rock, and nudibranchs and flatworms turn up from time to time.
