Zacatitos is a shallow rocky reef with a sandy bottom and healthy coral growth, one of the dive sites of the East Cape area, where most sites lie 10 to 20 minutes away by boat. The depth runs from about 9 to 18 metres (30 to 60 ft), and the site is rated beginner to intermediate.
Conditions are relaxed, which makes it a favourite for divers and snorkelers looking for colour and calm. Turtles, octopus, moray eels and large schools of fish are the wildlife sightings it is known for, and rays have also been reported.
