Alung Banua is a wall dive site offering strong macro photography opportunities, where divers need to stay alert for well-camouflaged creatures along the reef. The wall features beautiful caves that occasionally serve as resting spots for white tip reef sharks.
The terrain is a wall formation with caves running through it, making it a site where careful inspection of the structure rewards attentive divers. The site is rated at intermediate difficulty, with great visibility typical of the season from October to April.
Marine life at Alung Banua leans heavily toward cryptic macro species. Leaf fish, ghost pipefish, and frogfish are characteristic finds here, with their disguised appearances demanding a slow, deliberate approach. White tip reef sharks are also encountered, particularly resting inside the wall's caves.
